About the Presentation
Māyā has its downsides and its upsides, some of which may surprise you. In this Members’ Circle we explore the creative (and destructive) powers of Māyā in relation to our onward journey towards the light ─ as in the shānti mantra Asato Mā Sad Gamaya: from Darkness Lead me to Light. Here as in every other aspect of the Wisdom tradition we find that what is true of the macrocosm is true also of the microcosm.
About the Presenter
A former President of the Australian Section, and presently serving as the National Secretary, Dara Tatray joined Blavatsky Lodge in 1979 having discovered Theosophy and the Theosophical Society through a chance encounter with a pamphlet, an exposure to some of the teachings through a broadcast on Radio 2GB, and soon thereafter arriving at Mecca, the Adyar Bookshop in Culwulla Chambers on Castlereagh St. One of the first presentations Dara attended at Blavatsky Lodge was a wide-ranging and very deep talk by Doris Williamson referencing H.P.B., Ramana Maharshi, and J. Krishnamurti, who were soon to become her holy triumvirate, a position they maintain to this day. Dara holds a PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science (UNSW 2006) awarded for the thesis Rebuilding the Foundations of Deep Ecology: A Nondualist Approach.
